ContextECF Halo is the browser companion for Project Guardian. It helps route supported browser AI prompts and workspace interactions to a local Guardian runtime installed on the user's device.
Halo helps provide local prompt guardrails, context assistance, receipts, and optional prompt coaching for supported browser workflows. The extension is designed to work with the local Guardian runtime through localhost or Chrome native messaging.
Depending on user settings and the page being used, Halo may handle:
Halo does not intentionally collect health information or payment-card details. If a user types sensitive information into a supported prompt field, the extension may process that text only for the Guardian protection flow.
Halo uses handled data only to provide Guardian's single purpose: local AI prompt protection, local context assistance, receipts, and optional coaching.
Halo does not sell user data. Halo does not use user data for advertising. Halo does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Prompt capture is turned off by default. Before Halo checks prompts, the extension side panel main view shows a prominent disclosure explaining that Halo may read the prompt text submitted on supported browser surfaces, plus page URL, page title, destination label, and timestamp. The user must check the consent box and select "Allow Guardian prompt protection" before prompt capture begins.
Users can later disable prompt capture or individual supported surfaces in the extension settings.
Halo is designed to send prompt-check requests to the Guardian runtime installed on the user's own device through localhost or Chrome native messaging. The extension does not send prompt content to Guardian-operated cloud services.
If a user or organization configures separate enterprise services, those services are governed by that organization's deployment settings and policies.
Halo uses Chrome extension storage for local settings, pairing status, and local runtime connection preferences. Guardian receipts are designed to use metadata, hashes, and summaries by default. Raw prompt capture is off by default in the local Guardian runtime.
Halo does not sell or share user data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or unrelated purposes. Data is handled only as needed to provide the Guardian protection flow requested by the user or configured by the user's organization.
Users can disable provider capture, change Guardian settings, stop the local runtime, or uninstall the extension. Organization-managed deployments may apply administrator policy settings.
